I’m Tawnia, a passionate curl stylist with roots on the island and a heart full of love for our beautiful community in Duncan and the Cowichan Valley. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, I can honestly say I’ve never been more devoted to my craft or my amazing clients.

​

My own curl journey had its share of struggles. Like so many of us, I used to reach for flat irons and curling irons, often at the expense of my hair’s health. Let’s not forget all the bleaching and color damage, too. Everything changed when I decided to prioritize my hair’s well-being and embrace my natural waves. I found empowerment through loving and accepting my natural texture, and that’s when I knew I wanted to dedicate my work to celebrating every curl.

Here’s what drives me: I don’t just want to give you a great haircut. I want to create generational change. I want to end curly hair trauma for good. When you leave my chair with the knowledge and confidence to care for your curls, you can pass that on to your children and grandchildren. They’ll have the vocabulary to speak to their stylists, they’ll know what to look for, and they’ll never have to deal with the frizz, confusion, and frustration we grew up with. That’s what I’m working toward.

Behind the chair, my priority is not only to make your hair look beautiful, but to educate and empower you. The key to truly embracing your curls is understanding how to care for them at home, and together we’ll unlock the secrets to stunning, healthy, defined curls and waves - even outside the salon. I’m constantly learning and growing my business, always looking for ways to serve my clients better.

Beyond curls, I’m a true introvert at heart. When I’m not in the salon, you’ll find me surrounded by books, crafts, and art in the comfort of my home. I love listening to podcasts and always craving to learn something new. Right now I’m teaching myself how to knit, and honestly, all the creative work I do at home - the crafting, the art - it always plays back into my work in the salon. Everything connects.
